Communicative learning methods

At TANDEM International e.V., the learning success of the participants is the top priority! Using modern, communicative teaching methods, TANDEM partner schools support independent learning and contact between participants. Additional cultural activities and the promotion of contact with the respective region are integral parts of our work.

In addition, all TANDEM schools also arrange partners for TANDEM language exchanges. This involves two people with native languages such as German and Spanish meeting and learning each other's language. Half of the time is spent speaking one language and the other half speaking the other language. Personal exchange, fun and learning are naturally combined here.

Please note: Learning with a language tandem is not a substitute for a language course!

History of TANDEM INTERNATIONAL e.V.

TANDEM International e.V. was founded in 2001 as a network of independent, non-profit language schools. All member schools see language learning as an opportunity to promote intercultural understanding. TANDEM International was initiated by the TANDEM Fundazioa foundation in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.

In 2022, the network became a German-Spanish association of schools offering year-round German and Spanish courses in Germany, Spain and Chile. TANDEM is open to new members if they meet national and internal quality standards. Through constant exchange and cross-school cooperation, all schools benefit from each other. Once a year, school representatives meet to plan joint projects. Today, the term TANDEM is a registered trademark of TANDEM International e.V. in over 15 countries.

TANDEM Quality Seal

The TANDEM Quality Seal is an internal association certification for member schools. TANDEM International e.V. assesses the quality of the premises, administration and human resources, teaching standards, cultural programme, services, customer care and transparency in advertising. Schools are encouraged to engage in social activities and to cooperate with cultural initiatives and environmental organisations. This takes the form of donations, giving preference to solidarity-based institutions when awarding contracts, actively supporting campaigns and projects, and purchasing fair trade products. TANDEM schools support sustainable, environmentally friendly and socially responsible tourism.
