German for beginners 3 weeks

Learn German in Germany! Are you thinking about moving to Germany to build a new future and a new life? Or do you want to learn German for some other reason? Now you have the opportunity to take the first step towards that goal. This summer in Cologne/Köln you will get a base in the German language and culture during three intensive weeks.

GERMAN FOR BEGINNERS 3 WEEKS

  • Course dates: 5 - 23 August 2019

  • Last date to register: 22nd of July

  • Location: Köln / Cologne

Course description

During the summer, you will learn the bases of the German language in Germany. You study 3-4 hours (á 60 minutes) a day and then get some assignments to do at home. The emphasis is on communication and the practical application of what you learn. As a part of the course, we organize an activity in Cologne and a couple of trips to some cities in the region (for example Bonn or Königswinter). German for beginners is a course that follows a pedagogy developed for the Swedish Folk Highschool (folkhögskola) – adult education centres – which puts the emphasis on the group dynamic, that is to talk, share, listen and learn from each other. In the course, we use the “reality” as a source for knowledge and work with a student-centred approach. There will be no final exam. To get a course certificate you need to have an attendance rate of 85 %. A large part of the course participants will be Swedish students who are reading a longer beginners course. The course participants organize their own accommodation.

Köln / Cologne

Köln is a vibrant city with just over 1 million inhabitants; it is Germanys 4th largest city. Köln is a cultural hub with a wide range of museums, theatres, restaurants, cafes and an opera house, there is something for everyone. Köln is Germanys oldest city, founded by the Romans, at the same time is a very “young” city with a little bit more than 100 000 students, or 10% of the city’s total population. These students are divided between the city’s 24 universities and colleges. If you do not feel like paying a visit to the breath taking cathedral or the “Roman museum”, you can always stroll into the old town to visit one of the many cafes or restaurants, or just hang out next to the beautiful river Rhine. In your spare time you can visit Düsseldorf or Bonn, just a short train ride away.

Cost

  • The course fee is 350 €. Tuition in German, course material and taking part in the trips (except meals) are included in the prize.

  • When you register, there is a registration fee of 70 €. That fee is deducted from the total amount in the final invoice.

  • Private insurance, travel to and from Cologne/Köln and then in Cologne/Köln is not included.
